Helpful Score: 1
The heroine is "cursed" with the gift of second sight and marries the hero, sight unseen, in order to finally feel normal, something denied her by the people around her who knew of her ability. Unfortunately for her, her husband is not only uninterested in his marriage, he's uninterested in everything except getting revenge for his previous wife's murder, including an earldom he apparently knew nothing about (at some point he lost his memory, but this reader lost her desire to read in order to find out why.)
I finally stopped reading a little more than 1/3 of the way into the book... if rapidly flipped the pages can be construed as reading, that is. Every single last character in this story was about as flat and cliched as they possibly could be - the heroine and hero's "angst" (I didn't even care enough about them to remember their names) was both unoriginal and completely unmoving, their stiff, two dimensional actions completely rote and by the book, the sexual "tension" laughable... for no apparent reason, both of them are overcome by feelings of desire.
It's been a while since I've suffered through such a mediocre book - I got it because it had so many positive ratings but for the life of me can't see why. I think I'm going to have to dig out one of the books I've posted here on PBS to wash it out of my brain.
