FACES UNDER WATER:
This one was a little hard to get into and a I was confused here and there but it was written well enough that I wanted to keep on reading even though I wasn't entirely sure what was going on or why. I was glad I finished out the book because the story is unique from other fantasies I've read. It's set in a parallel Venice and filled with dark mysteries and customs. Even though some of the mysteries were confusing at times, it all comes together to make sense in the end.

SAINT FIRE:
This one wasn't as hard to follow as the first book in the series, but it did get a little slow in some parts. Overall, I liked it, even though I'm usually not into reading many stories that revolve around Christianity and the Inquisition (fiction or otherwise). I just don't really care to read about the crazed religious fanatics who tortured people to get them to "confess" or hold mock trials of a persons convictions towards God. Even though this story is categorized as fantasy, it does, at the same time, portray the evils of organized religion and the people who use "God" as their tool of power, especially against those that they feel threatened by. After starting it, I just couldn't put this book down, because I really wanted to know what would happen next and was quite pleased by the ending.
