This book is part of the Buchanan sibling series. All have been very good books. The Buchanan books are: "Heartbreaker" (Nick), "Mercy" (Theo), "Murder List" (Alec), "Slow Burn" (Dylan), & "Shadow Dance" (Jordan). There is also an intersecting character story involving the brother of Michelle from Theo's story. "Killjoy" comes after "Mercy".

Jordan Buchanan and Noah Clayborne! It is about time for Noah to fall in love. Loved this book as much as the ones before it. I think it is better to read them in order so you get the most of the the stories.

1-Heartbreaker

Love this series and all the characters. This one isn't quite as edgy as some of the earlier ones but no less entertaining, or difficult to put down.

Noah Clayborne's story. Noah dances with Jordan at Kate and Dylan's wedding, and goads her about getting out of her comfort zone. Jordan tries to ignore Noah, but his comments aren't easily forgotten. She decides to go on an adventure to research family history, and becomes involved in a murder in a small town in Texas. When Nick and Noah arrive, they find Jordan in jail, a suspect for the murder. Julie Garwood's story is easy to read, but somehow uninvolved with the characters. Humorous, yet told as if from a distance. Still a nice read, but it's missing the emotional development in the characters that usually is so satisfying in her books. Almost as if just reporting events.

A great escapist read. Good mystery, steamy romance without the graphic embarrassment, great way to pass a stormy night. I read it twice.

Five stars for this book. As always, Julie Garwood gives you suspense, humor, and light romance. I really enjoyed reading this book, especially since I've been waiting for Noah to fall in love.

Julie Garwood is one of my favorite authors and I know when I pick up one of her books I won't be disappointed. While there aren't really any surprises in the story since she uses the same formula when she writes, I could not put this down and have read it twice.

A fun, ok read - but nothing that special.

Shadow Dance is supposed to be read prior to Shadow Music, but I read Music first and am glad I did. Of the two Music is a better book but Dance was good too. Dance is a funnier read, the characters are hilarious. Because of the difference in centuries, the love scenes in Dance are more descriptive and steamy than Music as well.

Jordan moves from anti NCGC to President of NCGC

NCGC - Noah Claybourne Groupie Club

Noah finally gets his own story. Of course I liked it, but it gets four stars for 1- not a smooth transition on Noah's part to go from lady's man to one woman man and 2- I think things were not addressed in the book as I thought they should be. You still need to read the book if you love the Buchanan family as I do, now Julie Garwood who is Next, Sidney or Zachary Buchanan?

I don't know how she does it, but Julie Garwood makes us bite our fingernails, laugh, and pant with ...okay, lust, all at the same time.
Shadow Dance is full of heart throbs and mysterious and dubious characters...and if like me, you like your mysteries more on the curious and suspenseful side rather than the "Now I'm too scared to go to sleep in my own house" type of mystery, this is the book for you.
Add some Scottish treasure to be searched for, and a brother's best friend to try not to fall in love with...and you've got the recipe for a fun read.

When her beauty, smarts, and success as a high-tech entrepreneur, Jordan Buchanan should be enjoying life to the hilt. Instead, she's watching as her best friend gets hitched, her family makes headlines, and her brother blazes through his FBI career with a partner who scores with every woman he meets. But for Jordan, everything changes when she is told a fantastic story about her family's ancient feud, dating back to medieval Scotland. Suddenly, a woman who has spent more quality time with her laptop than with any man is caught up in a lethal mystery - and in a knee-buckling relationship with FBI agent & old friend Noah Clayborne.

Jordan Buchanan stops an elderly man who has crashed her brother Dylan and her best friend Kate McKenna's wedding. Professor McKenna claims that he has proof of a long-running feud between the Buchanan and the McKenna clans that dates back hundreds of years. He blames all of the problems on the Buchanan clan. Jordan decides to prove him wrong. She takes him up on his offer and follows him to a small Texas town. The professor gives her his research to copy. The next day when Jordan tries to place the boxes of research in the trunk of her car, she finds a dead body. A few minutes later, Jordan is taken into police custody and has been accused of murder. Her only option is to call her brother Nick and his partner Noah who work for the FBI.

Noah knows Jordan well. In fact, he goaded her into getting out of her comfort zone which is why she decided to go to Texas in the first place. Noah finds a bumbling sheriff, his ex-con brother, and a corrupt police chief are trying to railroad Jordan into confessing to a murder. Noah gets her out of jail and decides to have a look at the case to see if he can help solve it.

This story takes place in a small town where there are a lot of memorable characters who know everyone's business. There is a lot of humor in it. Jordan keeps finding dead bodies everywhere she turns. I liked Noah since he was introduced in the first book in the series; and I thought Jordan was a good match for him. But there is just something missing from their romance that I can't put my finger on. Still, it was an entertaining book and probably my favorite of the series so far. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

Shadow Dance to me was about Noah finally discovering what it was like to be satisfied with one woman. He was more gentle and sensitive in this story. Whereas I enjoyed Noah's outrageous flirtings and seductions in other books I was rather relieved to see him more low key in the attention he gave to other women when he was around Jordan and the little things he did that showed he respects all women as more than playthings.

As for Jordan she was a little nondescript but still fun and identifiable for me as someone who tends to stay in my comfort zone like her. I enjoyed her reactions to the things that kept happening to her. She kept her cool and most importantly her humor. I found her refreshing and endearing.

The mystery kept me guessing right up to the end and the almost tragic circumstances that result from not realizing who the bad guy was soon enough brought this story full circle for me.

All in all I found Shadow Dance to be a fitting end to this contemporary arch of Julie's it had every single thing that I want in a romance and I am deeply satisfied with it.

Book Description
Jordan Buchanan is thrilled that her brother and best friend are tying the knot. The wedding is a lavish affairfor the marriage of Dylan Buchanan and Kate MacKenna is no ordinary occasion. It represents the joining of two family dynasties. The ceremony and reception proceed without a hitchuntil a crasher appears claiming to be a MacKenna guest. The disheveled and eccentric professor of medieval history warns that theres bad blood between the couples clans, stemming from an ancient feud that originated in Scotland, and involving the Buchanan theft of a coveted MacKenna treasure.

Jordan has always led a cautious life and has used her intelligence and reason to become a successful businesswoman. So she is intrigued but skeptical of the professors claims that the feud has been kept alive by the grave injustices the Buchanans have perpetrated over the centuries. But when Noah Clayborne, a close family friend and a man who has never let a good time or a pretty girl pass him by, accuses Jordan of being trapped in her comfort zone, she determines to prove him wrong and sets out on a spontaneous adventure to the small, dusty town of Serenity, Texas, to judge the professors research for herself.

Maneuvering through a close-knit community in which everyone knows everyone elses business, Jordan never anticipates the danger and intrigue that lie in her path, nor the threat that will shadow her back to Boston, where even in familiar surroundings, her life is at risk.

A powerful thug who rules by fear, a man who harbors a simmering secret, and an unexpected romance that pierces all defensesbeloved author Julie Garwood weaves these dazzling elements into a brilliant novel of romantic suspense. Shadow Dance is a searing tango of passion and peril.
