I usually despise contemporary romance (never read even one one I liked) and ordered this one by mistake. Most of the attraction for me (besides the romance part) is the "time-travel" like feeling when reading historicals.  I want a book to transport me to another place and time.

If I just reposted this one without reading would I be missing out on something good?

I love Shannon M. books.  Some of them are kind dark, the bad guy is VERY bad.  I reada this one and the hero is a total Alpa male.  This is the start of a series about 3 brothers. This is a friend of the brothers.   Very HOT and dark.  I recomend it but if only like historicals this may not be for you.

While not a fan of historicals, I'm also not fond of McKenna.  Her characters spend too much time arguing for people that are falling love.  And most of the "heroes" are jerks.

I just got that on my WL but I haven't read it yet. But I really like thrillers w/a touch of romance.

hmm seems to have gotten really great reviews and I do like a thriller now and then.  Perhaps I'll give it a try.  If the first chapter doesn't grab me, it's going on my bookshelf, though.

Not yet; I'm waiting for a time when I want a change of pace.  I did read an excerpt about 1/2 way through though that the book just magically opened to and it was steamy in the EXTREME!

I'll need a change of pace after Flowers from the Storm.  Maybe I'll read BCD next.

I love McKenna. Her books are much more steamy than typical romance, but not quite erotica. Definitely not everybody's cup of tea though.

Started this one and had to put it down because it was upsetting me too much.  This has never happened to me before.  My brother is going through some legal trouble right now and all the talk about FBI agents and surveillance systems and crime really put me off.  I guess I don't like those kinds of things in a romance.  Perhaps I'll start again when things have calmed down a bit.

Behind Closed Doors is one of my favorite books. I will warn you that the book is very HOT, borderline erotica. The hero is extreme Alpha, tends to be overprotective and overbearing. You will either love him or hate him depending on how you like your heroes. The novel has a good suspense plot also. Since you read strictly historicals you may not like it, but I say give it a try, you may be pleasantly surprised.
