Just began Asimov's Mysteries!  What I've read so far is such fine reading.  So glad I found this one.  Finished it and it was so very good.  Lots of fun tales and great comments by the author.  I recommend it if you like science fiction mysteries.  Here's another fine read:  Timebound by Rysa Walker, first in an exciting new series about time travel.  An invented religion to gain power has been established by going back in time.  As the time lines change, people disappear and many things change.  Very good.

I'm reading The Magicians by Lev Grossman and I love it.

I finished the Bobby Dollar series by Tad Williams. I like Williams so I liked Bobby Dollar but can't put my finger on why it didn't thrill me.

Haven't read the Bobby Dollar series by Tad Williams but I read the Otherland series that I liked very much.  What other work by this author did you particularly like?

Just finished reading Lock In by John Scalzi which was so good.  It was my first read by this author.  Have you read his work and, if so, what did you especially like?  And, I read The Alien Within by Ben Bova, which was an awesome read.

I have retreated in both time and space.  Just started the Lilith Saintcrow Bannon and Clare series.  Everyone needs a little steampunk once in a while.

I liked the Shadowmarch series by Tad Williams too. He has a newer series out but I haven't read any of them yet.

Enjoyed Gaiman's Norse Mythology very much.  It's so well done!  And, am now checking out Gail Carriger's Alexia Tarabotti novels.  Have the first two, Soulless and Changeless.  Wasn't certain I would like this series after the first read but I discovered that it's fun with interesting characters.  May have to look at the rest of the series!

Yes, I read The Iron Wyrm Affair by Lilith Saintcrow, and I'm going to read The Red Plague (#2) soon.  I liked it very much. Great fun, interesting characters, and the protagonists are NOT romantically involved with each other, which is refreshing.

I just finished Neverwhere, the author's preferred text, by Neil Gaiman.  I haven't read nearly enough Gaiman.  Need to rectify that.  This is a reworking of all the BBC script stories with the stuff he had to strike out restored to the story. Early urban fantasy.  Makes you think about the people who are invisible in this society, like the homeless wanderers. In his story, they are visitors from London Below.  He is writing another novel of this world after 20 years, due out next year, I believe. References to other fiction works, (Oz, Alice in Wonderland, etc.), but you don't need to get the references to enjoy the story.

Ah, I have The Iron Wyrm Affair on my desk.  Moving it on up the list.  Thanks for the review.  By the way Gaiman is one of my favorite authors.  Of course, I have many but there are only a few that I turn to whenever I need an uplift and he's one of them.  I'm starting Grass by Tepper and the third of The Circle Opens by Tamora Pierce.  Finished all of The Circle Opens.  It's a good young YA series.  Grass was fun reading.  Now reading Pump Six and Other Stories by Paolo Bagigalupi.  Short story collections helps me enjoy my progress as I chip away one tale at a time.

I have tried so hard to enjoy Gaimen, but his writing style just doesn't work for me. I might try the Norse Mythology if my library has it. Different subject may work for me. I'm currently listening my way through Terry Pratchett's Diskworld series. On book 19 now.

Not every author appeals to every one.  That's what is so great about sharing our reads.  I am going to begin Scott Westereld's series starting with Uglies.  Has anyone read the series and if so, what did you think?  Wow Stephanie.  I haven't read anything by Pratchett yet.  Keep thinking I need to get to his work.

I too have the Iron Wyrm Affair to read, I have been on a steampunk kick lately.  Just finished book #12 in the Magnificent Devices series which finishes it.  While it does have some romance in it, the female characters have a lot of spunk and are no shrinking violets.  I also just finished a trilogy about Sherlock Holmes niece called the Baskerville Affair.  It was very clever and Mr. Holmes did make a few appearances in it.
