A window into one family's life as they educate their children. This book was fun to read.

This is an inspiring read if you are pondering unschooling or want more for your child than the typical K through 12 school experience. It covers up to about age 10 or so of his older daughter, so I'm looking forward to reading his later book(s). His daughters are now around college-age (as of 2009) -- Albert also writes a column in Home Education Magazine, which I look forward to reading in each issue.

One of the things I loved about this is how they broke away from typical age limitations and helped their daughters pursue their interests alongside adults and/or older kids. It really is amazing how much we limit our kids based on their ages.

As much as I want to say I loved this book like so many of my fellow homeschooling parents, I will go against the tide and say that I am not so enthralled. It is not completely without merit, (a wonderful tribute from a father about educating his remarkable, precocious, and highly-intelligent daughters) but I find the author's style a little too self-congratulatory. I discovered much more helpful information in the list of resources at the end of each chapter than I do in the chapters themselves. Read this book as an autobiographical type book about how this family educated their children.
