This is a fun book to read and a wonderful series. I liked this better than the first one.
It has a feisty heroine, who is summoned to learn and do magic. Then some of the magic users want to (and DO) send her unprepared into the Dark maw. I delighted in the fact that the people who treat her badly absolutely get their comeuppance.

This book had to have been my favorite of the three books out now (there are more to come!).
