Author (daddy) is self-absorbed, boring, and wordy. Son traveling with him is undefined. Whether that is his nature, the part of him his father perceives, or just a casualty of the urge on part of author to 'tell it all,' it's hard to determine. I wanted to know a whole lot more about details of the trip. I read a whole lot about details of the author's shattered marriage, self-distrust, hard times, plans, attempts to bridge relationship gaps, and eventual sipping of a cocktail which contains a human toe. Spots of real humor. Never warmed up to the son and would love to hear his take on the book. All in all, I was a bit disappointed & would not take on another Franscell based on this though I know he's a good author from other books.
