Trilogy of interconnected novelettes, bound together by their New York City locale, the relationships between a deformed boy and a man and woman in an untenable romance, and the poetry of Walt Whitman. If it sounds strange, it is, but the writing is nuanced and gorgeous.

Very engaging - three thought-provoking novellas, each with a different feel and message, yet the connections between the novellas pull them together. And yes, Walt Whitman makes an appearance (of sorts) in each one!

It's amazing how a mainstream writer can carry through with an SF theme and earn accolades, when the same theme has been explored much more engagingly by an SF author and was ignored by the MSM.

Three novellas with strange things in common. The last one, in particular, doesn't work, but they all have some moments of power and beauty.
