In her new job as major crimes investigator for the Cherokee Nation Molly Bearpaw becomes involved in a murder. A New Age shaman is found hanging outside a building that was once a territorial jailhouse with a history of a haunting. Following a string of clues with plenty of suspects including a leading medicine man Molly is lead to a confrontation with the killer that may end in her own death.
Although Molly Bearpaw is compared to other Native American Detectives such as Leaphorn and Chee she is her own personality ,feisty, fresh and likeable. From driving a clunker of a car that threatens to give out, to having only a little over four hundred dollars in the bank, to facing the return of a father that left her and her mother when she was young, and dealing with the local sheriff who does not like other investigators messing around in his territory Molly Bearpaw is a character we can both identify and understand.
A good book if you like Native American Mysteries and Author Jean Hager ends with you wanting a follow up adventure.
