One of the only book series i've read with two main characters that are homosexual and its NOT a sex-fest (not that there's anything wrong with that). She crafts a good story with deep characters and sprinkles it with bits of romance to keep everyone in her audience satisfied. I love that our main heroes are thieves and assassins, must be the "devilish rouge" thing.

This volume in Flewelling's Nightrunner series delves a bit deeper into intriguing rogue Seregil's past. In fact, the back story for almost all of the characters' is revealed. It's meant to bring in some plot surprises, but nothing especially startling is told.

Like the first book, this is a solid entertaining read, and I enjoyed it, but it just didn't have that special something, that special spark that makes a book a Must Read/Must Own for me. I am happy that small progress has been made in the relationship with Alec and Seregil, and now that the annoying Save The World plotline is resolved, I look forward to new adventures between the pair in Book 3, Traitor's Moon. Maybe without all that doomsday, fulfill the prophecy shlock that weighed this book down, I can finally enjoy these characters the way I've been hoping to all along!

Nearly classic "buddy" fantasy fiction novel- note there is a M/M pairing so if that bugs you, walk away. Which would be a shame, as while this book (ok, the series, really) can get a bit dark, and a bit depressing in tone, the characters are amazing and the stories detailed, yet a fun ride.

Gag.

Have you ever been to a really bad movie?
And sat thru it just because you already paid your ticket price?
And the movie is slooooow? But they thought they'd keep your interest by flashing some gratuitous sex scenes(which have really nothing to do with anything?)
I got whiplash from all the weird writing, too. Stuff that was just out of character. Honestly- 'a master of subterfuge' is gonna leave a love letter out on the table like some hormonal 13 yr old?
3/4 of the way thru the book, it finally got interesting.
Do I get some kind of award for slogging that far?

Thank you PBS! If I had actually bought this thing I'd have been reeeally pissed. As it is, I apologize to the person who had to spend a buck and a half to send it to me.

The characters were very easy to like and the story was engaging . If you like fantasy/romance you will like these books, just keep in mind the romance is between two men. Overall it was a fine story and made me eager to read the next in the series.
