A Stillness at Appomattox - Army of the Potomac, Bk 3

For anyone interested in the Civil War, this is a truly brilliant piece of writing. One part of a trilogy, (The Army of the Potomac), this book takes you there like a time machine, with the mud, the blood, the quirky generals and their strategies. Catton won the Pulitzer before he died in 1978, and this book is a good introduction as to why. I am letting go of my current copy only because I ordered it in hardback edition.
