From the cover . . . As a neutral country during the Second World War, Sweden was able to take in Jewish immigrants and refugees from other European countires. Thousands of Jews from Denmark, Norway and the Baltic countries found a haven in Sweden. Swedish protective passes and the work of Swedish diplomats -- most notably Raoul Wallenberg -- saved many thousands of lives.

In addition to these efforts, over 20,000 Holocaust survivors were taken from concentration camps and brought to Sweden n March and April of 1945."
