reviewed The Other Story (Audio CD) (Unabridged) on
The Other Story, based on the book summary was to be a captivating story of successful writer Nicholas Duhamel, and the story behind his story. Less than a chapter into the book I found myself with a strong distaste for Nicholas. The fact that this book was written from a present tense seemed to in this case heighten my loathing of him. Nicholas is a self centered, dull character. "He (Nicholas) is fleetingly aware of the emptiness of his life" and unfortunately so was I as the reader.

The story seemed to dragged on through the first few CD's, never really developing. To compound my growing frustration with this book, sex was referenced too often for my tastes and when it start to get detailed I was more than done. In my opinion books with such explicitness should definitely indicated that they are written as such to the reader in the book summary.

The only two things that I truly liked about this books are de Rosnay's descriptive ability of the landscape and the reader Simon Vance, who is probably the one reason I put up with Nicholas for as long as I did.

I received this book to review however my views are 100% my own. Thank you MacMillan publishing, although I disliked the book I appreciated the opportunity to review it.
