Summer Child is my first book by Luanne Rice. Really good, reminds me a little of Nora Roberts, who I love. A little mystery, a little romance. I was able to guess at some of the mystery part but wasen't really sure till the end. The ending was a little "cut off" for me, I felt it should've ended with more detail.

This is a great story with mystery, love, and the power of friendship. I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to read the second book in this series.

Luanne Rice is an unbelievable writer! She draws you in to her characters' lives until you almost care about them as real people. Summer's Child is a prime example of this. Every mother can feel Lily's feelings about her little girl, Rose. It gives some insight into how women in abusive relationships feel.....how eventually they come out of the shell they buried themselves in. This story is beautiful! I loved it and can't wait to read the conclusion- Summer of Roses.

Summer's Child was a good book to pass away the summer nights or a take to the beach book. Interesting characters and good mysterious plot.
If you are female and enjoy working with your hands, this book will also appeal to your creative side.
Also a good connection with the need for friendships. I do recommend reading!

Two different women flee abusive martial situations to protect their children. One woman is tracked by a retired police detective, intent on finding out at long last what exactly became of her.

I found inconsistencies in the writing made for an unbelievable storyline at times. It's a decent enough story for a beach or vacation read.
