Kata (hated this nickname) is a woman on the run from a would-be assassin and Hunter is a Dominant who almost instantly falls in love with her and ends up marrying her when she's drunk.
My main problem was not with him as a Dom and her as a submissive. My problem was with the following (I have to bullet because there were quite a few problems):
1. He coerced her into marrying him even though she was drunk and I mean really, really drunk!
2. Now if you've gotten past #1 then you'll be fine. My 2nd problem after I suspended believability about the marriage was that she knew she was submissive but constantly and I mean constantly denied and defied him at every turn. She admitted she liked the games but when he wanted to play she totally went into meltdown and ceaselessly complained.
3. She compared herself with her mother who let her 2nd husband run roughshod over her day in and day out. Not just once or twice but all through the book she wrung her hands about how she didn't want to be like her mother. This was a woman who obviously was so not like her mother so it got annoying after a while.
4. And finally, Ms. Black yanked what would have been a seriously hot menage scene but was cut short by the heroine.
All in all an ok book but I'm very happy I didn't buy it but obtained in a swap.

Ok, these other reviews are just harsh. Is this my dream man? NO! Do i like bdsm books? not really. Was this a good book? not for the $, but yes a credit or game win, for sure. It is on the dark side of the Dom/sub relationship. If u have no inkling into this topic, then pass this up, BUT the first books were of bdsm, 3 person couples, & menages so how u got this far in the series means u can do this book as well. It is harsher & darker than the others, but Im assuming Logan's will be worse & darker by what we've learned in this book. Im not a fan of Hunter really. It was scorching hot, but just not my taste really. But i loved Deke & Jack's books' so I will cont. even tho I can see where they r going, but I like this group & its not the norm 4 me.
Back on this particular book, no its not ideal, marriage so quick into it, but it does get said that Kata comes up with it & he just goes with it. Not him 'forcing' her into it even tho she's drunk. They are good together, but it is the very last pg that makes the read worth it.

There's lots of good sex here and it's smoking hot! The hit job plot is rather thin, but it was a decent way of reacquainting alpha characters from previous books in the series. Hunter's Dom tactics were pretty overbearing and Kata's continuously determined resistance made all that push and pull somewhat frustrating. But I did appreciate Hunter's willingness to 'let go of the one you love'; I liked seeing that emotional side of him. Oh, and did I mention that the sex was hot?? Whewee! 4 stars.

I'm sure I'll be in the minority, but I absolutely HATED this book. It was not what I thought it would be about. Kata is in Vegas celebrating her 25th birthday and her friends-with-benefits partner, Ben, sets up her fantasy for her, a menage. Hunter, the third, becomes completely infactuated with her from the start. Well, Ben gets too drunk that night and passed out, leaving Kata with Hunter alone. At this point, Hunter goes into borderline abusive, psycho man, IMO.
Whatever she wants, whether it be to turn the lights off or have something to drink, he tells her no. When she refuses to listen to him, he gets mad. Hello, they've know each other for 3 hours and he gets demanding and crazy! She ends up hitting him in the gut to get away from him, but he catches up with her later, when she is drunk, and manipulates her into a marriage. (Of course he claims it was her idea!) She wakes the next morning, flees from him and of course he chases her because he knows what she wants and it's him. Um....no? All he wants to do is control her an not allow her to be a person, but someone he can manipulate into doing his bidding.
This was not sexy, this was not erotic, this was how to get into a stalkerish relationship with a man who tries to take over your identity. Again, this is my opinion, but if I had read a review like this one, I would have saved myself the $15 and bought something worthwhile.

SCORCHING!!! Another hit for Shayla Black. On leave due to an injury, Hunter takes a friend up on an invitation. But once he lays eyes on Kata, he knows she is the one and he will NOT share her. Kata is overwhelmed by Hunter, and once her life is threatened, has to rely on him to keep her safe. I really enjoyed their story, and the threat to her life is not who you think it is, I didn't see this one coming. We see some of our previous couples make appearences, and I enjoyed the update to their lives. Hunter and Kata's story is a very passionate, steamy, emotional ride. (cold shower worthy) I read this book in one day, I was unable to put it down! You don't have to read this series in order, but to know who the other characters are, it would be a great ride...
