This is the first book in the Jake Conger series. You may notice the description above says "Jack" Conger. Yes, the back of the book description actually gets the name of the ain character wrong...twice! I don't know if this book was rushed to print and wasn't proofread properly, but there are a LOT of noticeable errors in the text.

Moving on...besides the amateurish quality of the publishing, the book was good, as long as you aren't looking for deep philosophy. I am a fan of Goulart's light style. He's humorous, but doesn't overdo the slapstick like some comic SF authors I could name. Jake's "talent" as an agent is to become invisible, and he's tracking down someone who is resurrecting the dead. The plot is very simple, and, in my opinion, not up the standards of some of his other books. There is a little bit of romance with another agent as Conger's love interest, but it feels a bit awkward. I wonder if this is why many of Goulart's characters in other books are already married or in a relationship.
