I really enjoy both of these authors, so it was interesting for me to experience how their styles interwove throughout this work, and I found myself quite caught up in that aspect of the read. As a stand-alone novel, however, I don't think that the story itself was particularly unique for the genre (certainly not for King), nor was it "scary," so I'd leave this as a three-star read unless you are interested specifically in the craftsmanship of the authors' collaboration, as I was.
