Living in the small town of Plum Orchard, working as a phone sex operator and fending off the moral patrol on a daily basis wouldnt seem like an ideal situation. But Marybell Lyman has had one hell of a life and no one knows the depths of her secrets, not even the women she considers her best friends/family, her fellow call girls. For the past 4 years she has hidden behind what she calls her shield a colorful spiky Mohawk hairdo and enough Goth makeup and clothing to put Marilyn Manson to shame. She has a heart of gold but most people stay far away, except Tag Hawthorne. He seems to have made it his lifes mission to get to know the untouchable Marybell. And he is the one person in the town she needs to keep hidden from.

When I first started this book I was pleasantly surprised by the steamy sexual situations and witty banter. I was intrigued by Marybells mask and past and found myself wanting to know more. I even had decided to order the first books in the series so I could get to know the other side characters better and the back story more. The more I learned the more curious I was to know how it all started. I was convinced this was going to be a 5 star rating and I wanted more!

But then somewhere along the way, I began to lose the enthusiasm and excitement. As Marybell and Tag got closer, the feel of the book changed. Things got a little cheesy and dramatic and then the momentum of the book slowed and suddenly I was more focused on just getting through this one, no longer interested in reading anymore. By the end of the book I was happy with the result, but not elated or blown away. It was a good book and although it wasnt as great as it started, I still enjoyed it. Am I interested in reading anymore in the series? Maybe, but Im not in the hurry that I once was in.

Overall it was good.
