Didn't like as much as _Angry Housewives_ or Patty Jane's House of Curl_ by the same author. While the characters are enjoyable, they are a little too quirky and "Lake Woebegone-ish" for my taste. The other two books touched me because I felt like the characters were real. The inhabitants of Tall Pine are too folksy and touch base with reality too seldom. (Maybe Minnesotans are really like that, but this Texan couldn't relate.) Both the other two books are set in Minnesota but for the most part are more universal in their appeal.

If you have ever read Lorna Landvik, you love her. If you haven't, this is a good place to start.
A group of somewhat offbeat people in a small town form a loose family around a diner that features the best coffee in the world. Summer visitors dream about it until their next visit, but the locals get their fix every morning. Life in good, until the movie producer finds his next star sitting at the counter.

Ms. Landvik's characters are grounded in the tall pine country of the North midwest, but they are real. Imagine Paula Dean running the coffeeshop.

This is one of her better books, but then, all of her are good. I enjoy spending time with these people.

A little "Forest Gumpy" for my liking. Everything always worked out perfectly.

It took me a little while to really become absorbed into this story. This is probably because there are so many characters, and each one has such a finely detailed personality. Once I got hooked, I couldn't put the book down! If you like Lorna Landvik, this is typically one of her stories. The characters are more than quirky! As the book was drawing to a close, I found myself sorry to say good-bye to the whole gang at the Cup O'Delight! They became my "good friends". The book is a delight!
