A gory thriller that kept me listening! I wish there had been more character interaction and less blood spatter description. You could tell from the beginning that certain characters were gonners, but it was neat to slowly find out more details about the creature.

I love the Preston & Child novels, and I've also enjoyed several of Lincoln Child's stand alone titles. But this has to be one of the worst books he's ever written, and the narration by Scott Brick is so cheesy! I ended up skipping from disc 3 to disc 8 (out of 9) and don't feel I missed a thing. I can suspend disbelief to enjoy a good story, but just outright stupid stuff bothers me. So, the story takes place far above the Arctic Circle, in the summer, and yet, there is complete nightfall, and the Northern lights. Really? People walking around in -20 degree weather without outerwear. Hmm. Really, it got to the point where I was laughing out loud. So I give it a "one" for humor.
