He's done police investigations, drug busts, sting operations, you name it, he's done it. Nobody really knew much about Brett. He had been a mystery ever since he'd joined the force. Behind enemy lines.
People called him The Stranger, because, as we said before, no one knew much about him.

Which was a good thing.

The Stranger walked into the Empire State building at 2:00 pm carrying a silver attache case. He returned with the same case in his hands at 3:30 pm.

But the case was much lighter.

The Stranger smiled to himself as he hailed a taxi cab. He wanted to suck out as much pleasure as he could from this one. That elevator boy was going to be pretty shocked today.

It starts in 24 hours.

Let the games begin.

Chapter On1
4:00 pm, July 20th

David Alexson was an ordinary man with a not so ordinary job. He worked in the elevator shafts of the Empire State building, fixing up elevators day in and day out. Today was his apprentice's fist day on the job. Her name was Sarah Redgefield. She had finished up engineering school 5 months ago and got a job here. David was planning to teach her everything he knew. He was getting a bit too old for this kind of job.

Being in your 50's and hanging in an elevator shaft by a cable wasn't exactly the perfect job for a man his age. Today he was going to teach Sarah how to swap wires on an elevator. She was rapelling down the side of the shaft holding an armful of long metal wires with her left hand, using her right hand to hang onto the cable.
"
Here I come, David." She sank to his level and locked the cable. She handed him the wires.

"Thanks, Sarah. Now, what you need to do is climb up top of the elevator...good, good. Then place the backup cable on the left sheet...very nice. Now press the button on the cable..." Sarah pressed the button and a thick line of wire shot up and attached itself onto the wall. Another wire shot up and did the same on the opposite. They both sucked at the wall for support.

"Very nice, Sarah. You're doing well. The next thing is to-." David was cut off by a loud boom and the shaft shook. Sarah screamed and fell off the top of the elevator. Her rapelling cable prevented her from falling, but swung her around. She knocked into David and he hit the wall. The shaking stopped.
"
Did we just have an earthquake?" David shook his head.

"Must've been a strong wind or something. If it was earthquake, we'd be headed to the basement floor."

David pressed against the wall and heard a click. A beeping sound started, making the sound every second.

Like a clock. Or a bomb.
