One night, I awoke to a giant thunderstorm
It was so loud that I felt tiny, helpless,
In awe of the massive forces colliding in the sky
I felt as if I had entered into the minds of the ancients
And was sensing what they had felt
When they saw the jagged brilliance of the lightning
Flash into being as if by magic
And heard the sudden deafening crash and boom of the thunderbolts
And saw and heard them again and again
Until all that furious energy was spent
And the gods took a nap
