The best account of the Battle of Kursk I've read. Some of the details---the huge casualties and fierceness of the battle---were astounding.

While the Soviet armed forces contributed greatly to the defeat of Nazi Germany, the author provides some good proofs to refute Soviet claims that what the Allies contributed was not significant.

One he fails to mention is the bombing campaign waged by the U.S. and Britain in western Europe over several years---in which they suffered heavy casualties---also resulted in the Germans positioning a million men and tens of thousands of 88mm anti-craft guns to protect German industry. Without the bombing campaign these assets would have been used against the Soviet forces.
