I used this today to search someone's Bookshelf and thought I would pass it along in case someone finds it useful.

1) Get to the first page of their bookshelf

2) Type Ctrl-F (this activates your browser's Find command)

3) Type "reminder" into the search window to scan for books that are ON YOUR REMINDER LIST

4) Keep using Find-Next until you have found everything (or nothing) on this page, then go to the next page and repeat the procedure

Now that's neat.  I've gotta try it especially when you hit someone with a big bookshelf.  I'm trying to get mine below 100 and it's not easy!

If they have more than 2 pages of books on their bookshelf, I usually don't bother.  That's much faster than your computer trick.  ;)-

If it's a really long Bookshelf (600 books or something like that) you may want to filter by genre first.  Then, using the results produced by the genre filter you can apply Ctrl-F search for "reminder" to a much smaller list of books.

Thank you so much, Dan,  for bumping this up for me.  I searched back a long way, but couldn't find it.  I really appreciate it.

I love doing this.  Not only does it save time, it keeps me from looking at all the books posted on that bookshelf and being tempted to order a bunch of things that I didn't know I just HAD to have!!  LOL!

I could only get this work in IE.  It did not work in Firefox - Ctrl-F doesn't bring up the browser search window.  However in IE it works great.  The search window appears at the bottom of the browser window just above the task bar.  It doesn't seem to float as it  does in IE.  Still works great - thanks for the tip.

edited -  location of firefox search field.

I too thank you  for this great tip.     Regarding searching the large bookshelves, I wonder if PBS has ever considered a shopping cart type of system. When I am browsing a large shelf I may think a book is a possibility and go on to see the others and if I don't jot it down I will forget which ones I wanted to go back to.  Any tips for that other than an old fashioned paper & pencil?

Jeannie;  When you are browsing a large shelf you can open a word-processor (MS-Word) in a separate window.  When you get to a book you want to remember just Cut-N-Paste the Title and Author from PBS into your word-processor list.  At the end of your search you will have a list of titles and authors that can be emailed or posted in the Book Bazaar.  Or you can just discard the list if you change your mind.  If you post your list in the Book Bazaar (or save it on your PC as a reference) it should retain the links that link you to the PBS database for book details.

I save my list to my PC to keep track of deals.  For example, if I made a deal with you then I would save my list as (PBS 3-for-1 Jeannie.doc) and inside I would Cut-N-Paste your name and nic from a PM into my file.  My file would then contain a link to you (Jeannie (nicebooks) ) in addition to a link to each book.

Here's an example from your Bookshelf;

Jeannie (nicebooks)

The Car  Author: Gary Paulsen

Detective Stories (Story Library)  Author: Philip Pullman

Dan (for Marilyn)  ETA example

jubead; The Firefox search has a (Highlight all) button you might like.  Go to your own Wish List.,  press Ctrl-F to get the search, type in "weeks", then click Highlight all.  It gives you a quick view of which books you might receive soon.  Here's a picture to help visualize.

Oh that is awesome!  Now when they ask if I want to "order more from this member...it will remind me to go directly to their shelf and look.  Thanks!
