This Schloastic book is aimed at young readers, but I read it as an adult and found the stories interesting and moving. Of the 195 children aboard, only 86 came to survive.

The stories explain why their parents decided to travel to America, and after the rescues, there is a further follow-up on each child's life thereafter. Each young survivor miraculously found him(her)self in one of the too-few lifeboats, often leaving one or both parents behind, but the peril often did not end there. Afterwards, some spoke freely and openly of the tragedy; most did not. Some were haunted for the rest of their lives; some thrived despite it. The oldest-living survivor was a young girl who lived to be 100 years old.

The book reads like 10 short stories; perfect for a little education as well as a taste of history. Sometimes the children of tragedy are forgotten in the telling as the years and decades pass. Here they are the focus.
