Another excellent story by Hurwitz, quickly becoming my latest favorite author. U.S. Marshall Timothy Rackley is back in action with a badge and his trademark .357 magnum "wheel gun". This time he and his crew tangle with a bad to the bone biker gang that have teamed up with a shadowy terrorist organization to wreak havoc and destruction on L.A. and anyone who gets in the way of their plans to (oops, almost gave something away).

As in his previous novels, Hurwitz gives Rackley a very personal reason to be "on the hunt" and again shows the agonizing thought processes Rackly goes through to balance his innate "take no prisoners" style with his desire to follow the rules.

A touch more graphic and violent than the previous novels (and that's saying a lot) this one is my favorite so far. It is clear that Hurwitz does his research and knows how to make it real. Great story, great author. Although each of his books works fine as a stand alone novel, I highly suggest reading the series in order to better understand Rackley's background and motivations.

For those Lee Child/Jack Reacher fans out there, this series will tide you over nicely until Child's next release.
