Set in the late 1800's, this is a charming look at a young woman's life in the mountains of Kentucky. Raised by her father and stepmother/aunt after her mother dies in a tragic accident when she was an infant, Copper (Laura Grace) comes of age and faces the turmoil of love: for her precious mountain home and a handsome, young doctor. The character descriptions are wonderful and the story draws you in quickly.
I could hardly put down the novel Troublesome Creek by Jan Watson. It was an excellent story about Copper, a girl growing up in the mountains of Kentucky. It's the first in a series, which makes me so happy! I'm looking forward to reading them all.
