I enjoyed the story and am anxious to get the rest of the series. The beginning and the end was a page turner, with a slower pace in the the middle. They were strong women in those days!

The best of the series. This is the beginning, it is beautifully written, very descriptive, happy, sad; a tale of innocence, sorrow, and redemption.
Part of the overall Red River Series. These are best books I have read in a long time. Inspirational reading with an excellent story. Lauraine Snelling's books ahve been recommeneded by Sons of Norway, I am glad they turned me on to her work. LOVE it.

This book tells the story of how Ingeborg Bjorklund emigrated form Norway to the Dakotas, surviving the long journey, hardships and first few years homesteading. She and her family face hunger, the cold, epidemics and spiritual trials. This is the first book in the Red River of the North Series.

Absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED this book! If you like historical fiction and inspirational fiction you will love this first book of a series quickly becoming an all time favorite!
