I found this book to be most enjoyable even though there were so many characters, but each played an integral part to the storyline and hopefully many will be brought back in future books. I loved the Victorian setting, old London in a foggy mist with gas lighting, hansom cabs, blazing fires, bobbies....well you get the picture, very Sherlock Holmes-esqe.

The mystery was great, filled with twists and turns among polite society. Georgia with her quick wit and strong values met her match with the Duke of Blackford. I suspect we will see more of him. A second mystery was interwoven within the story which was also intriguing.

Overall the book was well-written, fun to read, and gave me a sense of being right there on the streets of London. You can't ask for more than that. I anxiously await Book Two. Well done Kate Parker!

The Vanishing Thief is the first book in a new series and I enjoyed it. I am usually very wary and excited when opening the pages of a first book, but I was not disappointed.
Some days I have had a long day and just want an easy read. Some days I want an exciting book that will keep me on my toes. The Vanishing Thief falls in the exciting book that keeps me on my toes. It is very busy. You really have to keep up with it.
There are a lot of characters, places, scenes and obstacles. I find myself really admiring each character. In fact, I think the Duke of Blackford is the first "Rhett Butler" in a way. Even though Georgia is the main character, each character has a very important role. I think that is what I like about it the most and they not only want to right the wronged, but they are loyal to each other.
I will definitely get the next book.

I was hooked on this book by page 2! Wonderful historical fiction which takes place during the Victorian period in London. The MC owns a bookshop, but she also is part of a group of folks who get together to help solve mysteries either working with the police or independently to help someone who doesn't want to go to the police. Excellent book!

I really liked this book! The first few chapters had me flipping back and forth trying to remember all the characters' names, but soon enough, I was completely hooked. I had a very hard time setting this book down to go do anything else, and read most of it in a day.

Georgia was a fun character, and I liked how she was not afraid to go toe-to-toe with the much more imposing Duke of Blackford. I can't wait to see how their characters develop in the next book, and am very glad that I already own it.

The supporting characters were also interesting enough that I never got bogged down with the large number of them. The main mystery was done fairly well, and while I had my guesses early on, the book takes you on quite a twisty path to reach its resolution.

I look forward to continuing this series.
