Every new officer's nightmare; an ethical challenge that can end their career unless they're ready to go along to get along.

Miles Vorkosigan doesn't go along; he stands up for what's right. And ends his career, sort of...

Miles has the ability to overcome his weakened body as well as the strength of his enemies. By the end of the book, he's finished his second assignment. Again in apparent disgrace.....

Honor and devotion to duty are central to this series of books.
