Ms. Slade isnt afraid to break out of the mold of the pure and innocent heroine and gives us a character with depth, flaws and conflicted feelings in Nim.
This is a multifaceted, dark and sober book. The characters arent perfect and its not clear cut what makes someone good or bad. The main characters have inner battles waging as well as the overarching war with a demon trying to destroy the veil between worlds and unleash unspeakable evil. Romance weaves in and out of the intense and intriguing plot lines and provides a brief respite of hope to the characters and readers alike. If you want a thought provoking read, this is a series not to be missed.
