Missionary man Jonah Walker lost everything when he was possessed by a demon. Hes spent his immortal life fighting the relentless battle against evil. In his last fight he lost a vital part of himself and started questioning his existence. Now duty calls him to train a newly demon-possessed woman, but hes not sure hes up for the challenge, for he has nothing left to offer.

Nim Naughty Nymphette Hamlin spends her nights stripping for money. Shes positive the worlds not worth saving. However, when she attracts the attention of a demon and a saint, shes thrust into a world she never knew existed. Shes irresistibly drawn to Jonah, but isnt willing to give him more than no-strings-attached sex. But as danger surrounds them, they both have to face the mistakes of their past so they can come together to save the future.

This is book 3 in the Marked Souls series and I recommend reading them in order, as each story builds upon things that happen in the previous books. This book opens with a scorching hot meeting between the two main characters and doesnt stop burning up the pages until the end. I loved the polarization between a missionary turned demon hero and a stripper heroine. They balanced each other well as they explored the ideals of good versus evil, redemption and forgiveness. Ms. Slade isnt afraid to break out of the mold of the pure and innocent heroine and gives us a character with depth, flaws and conflicted feelings in Nim.

This is a multifaceted, dark and sober book. The characters arent perfect and its not clear cut what makes someone good or bad. The main characters have inner battles waging as well as the overarching war with a demon trying to destroy the veil between worlds and unleash unspeakable evil. Romance weaves in and out of the intense and intriguing plot lines and provides a brief respite of hope to the characters and readers alike. If you want a thought provoking read, this is a series not to be missed.
