2nd in the series by Ed Gorman. Private Investigator Sam McCain solves the mystery of who killed the wife of a prominent lawyer - and placed her body in the trunk of a brand new 1957 Edsel - still one more thing that was wrong with the Edsel....

This is the second novel about Sam McCain, lawyer & PI in Black River Falls, Iowa in the 1950s. Anyone remember the Edsel?

A fun little excursion into small town America in 1957. This is a quick read and a whodunnit with twists that kept me guessing to the end. While this is the 2nd book in Gorman's Sam McCain series, it is the first one I had read and it stands alone very well. My familiarity with Gorman was only through his collaboration with Dean Koontz on the Frankenstein series (which I loved). The only reason I picked this up to read is that I am a sucker for "Susie" songs and a book named "Wake Up Little Susie" demanded I read it:) I liked the characters and the mystery was well done, but the fun is in the setting-brownie troops with hula hoops, American Bandstand, the fascination of cars and drag racing. Good light entertainment.
