I thought this was really well written and I read most of the book in one sitting and just zoomed through easily. The dialog was especially humorous, with many laugh out loud moments. I truly liked the banter between the main characters, their give and take was well written and the romance wasn't taken over by sex early on. No purple prose either. And I really liked the secondary characters who played large roles (Georgie's father, her assistant Aaron, Bram's housekeeper Chaz). There are also a couple of other secondary romances which I also liked which good because sometimes I find secondary romances more cheesily done than the primary one. I'm not really a big romance reader, and I'm not as sensitive to some of the romance cliche's that I'm sure romance readers are used to, but I still noticed some things that I've heard people rant about in contemporary romances. For instance, we keep seeing characters from other books (or their grown-up children) and I couldn't care less about them. I think we see people from Glitter Baby and other books here, but I haven't read much SEP to tell and so they were just extraneous people to me and didn't add much to the book. There was also an epilogue with the happy family, including precocious kids, which I also noticed in Match Me if You Can. I've decided I'm not a fan of this.

Overall: Really close to wowing me and being one of my better reads for the year, but doesn't quite make it because of the ending and my inability to suspend belief in the romance. But still a really good read with great banter and secondary characters, so worth an afternoon for contemporary romance or SEP fans. For an idea if you will like it, I recommend reading the excerpt

Susan Elizabeth Phillips is one of the better authors out there. I laughed out loud so many times! The characters are real and the story line wonderful. Georgie and Bram are the main story line - two actors who started out in a well loved series - both with issues. Although it is the classic boy gets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back tale, it is filled with much more. I couldn't put it down.

I like SEP's light romances like the hockey series she writes. I don't care much for when she tries to channel Sidney Sheldon. This book felt like a cross between the two.

Still, there were some good moments, but some things really annoyed me, too. I was turned off by the too obvious Jennifer/Brad/Anjolina premise. SEP might as well have stolen the names along with the details of their lives. Very distracting. There were too many characters, many of whom came from other SEP novels, which sadly reminded me just how much I detested Glitter Baby. I'm not sorry I read it, but I won't be reading it again.

This is another perfect book from Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Her characters have so much depth that you feel as if you were right there with them, and the story line is flawless. Besides seeing several "old friends" mentioned, her new characters are amazing, as well. I read this book in one day, because, as with any of her books, I just couldn't bear to put it down. Anyone looking for a fun, romantic novel with plenty of comedy thrown in should definitely put "What I Did For Love" at the top of their reading list!

I finished this book in almost a day, I couldn't put it down! At the beinning of the book, both of the characters are immature in their own ways, but as the book progresses the characters begin to improve themselves and each other. There were parts that made me tear up, the Georgie would say something smart and bring my smile back. I haven't enjoyed a Susan Elizabeth Phillips book this much is a while!

Susan Elizabeth Phillips brought in some characters from her previous books (April Robillard and Jack Patriot from "Natural Born Charmer" and Fleur, Jake, and Meg from "Glitter Baby"), but this book stands alone just fine.
