While Alice Hoffman is one of my more favorite authors, this book was definitely different than her others. Risque is a good word to describe this book and I am glad that I did not start with this book when discovering this author. I love the magical themes of her books and would suggest "Practical Magic" or "The Bluebird House" for those wanting to read a great book that is better suited for more audiences.

Never thought I'd find a book by Alice Hoffman that I did not like. I loved Ice Queen and Blue Diary and so many others. I absolutely hated this story. I kept reading, hoping the author (who happens to be one of my favorites) would redeem herself and turn the story into a more appropriate, more likable direction. This book was hard to read and left me with no closure what-so-ever. The ending was sudden and confusing. The love story between siblings disgusted me. Alice Hoffman lost favor with me with this novel.

This book started out okay, but then it just got weird. The main character's obsession with her brother took over, and the book was just not that interesting. I have read other books by Alice Hoffman and this one definitely is the worst one I have read so far. I don't recommend this book at all--keep looking for something else!
