Used to her family being gossiped about, Ashlynne Monroe is a single mother trying to make a better life for her two little girls. But when Cord Way returns to town, Ashlynne's quiet life is disrupted. Cord is in town to help his brother's bid for a congressional seat. Cord remembers Ashlynne and wants to get to know her better. But Ashlynne has a secret she's been hiding...a secret that has something to do with Cord.

This book is very much a soap opera. It has a heroine from the wrong side of the tracks, a secret baby, political shenanigans, a family feud and a secondary romance. It was very addictive. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

This was an ok read - but the heroine was very annoying. She was alway shouting at the hero and I did not see what he saw in her. Kind of ruined the romance.

From the cover: In Waysboro, Maryland, there are two families everyone talks about. The Ways, known for their privilege and prestige. And the Monroes, who are gossiped about even more - but for very different reasons... Ashlynne Monroe ignores the small-town snobbery against her family. The single mother just wants to make a better life for herself and her two little girls. But when Cord Way returns to town - and the two find themselves on opposite sides of a fierce battle for power - Ashlynne's quiet life is disrupted. She fears that the secret she's been hiding all these years will come to light. THe secret has something to do with Cord Way. And the closer Ashlynne gets to the rugged 'bad boy' of Waysboro, the harder it is to keep scandal - and her own traitorous passions - at bay.
