One of the most riveting and memorable novels I've ever read. This modern Gothic really had me turning the pages. I finished it in 2 days! And it's a 400 page book! Gatien Defalle is definitely a hero I will never forget and so superbly written. As an aspiring novelist, I can only hope to write something as grand as Tyrrel. I'm looking forward to reading more from her.

A true "Gothic" novel in the Victoria Holt/Mary Stewart tradition. I used to read a lot of gothic novels but they are not really popular anymore. I'm glad to have found this author.

Sarah Logan has traveled to San Francisco to take the job of caregiver to teenage May DeFalle. Ms. Tyrrel has written another keeper in this gothic romance. Dark and gloomy at times, with engaging, mysterious characters and backdrops for a story rich in dialogue and description, fans of the genre won't be disappointed.
