Fantastic book/series. Ian Rutledge is a Scotland Yard detective who had serious injuries (physical and mental) in WWI. He is put into cases where his superiors either want him out of the way or fear the case is so sensitive that political problems may occur. You really care about Ian Rutledge as well as the individuals in his cases . One of the best "serious" historical mysteries.
