Let me preface this by saying that Mark Morris is a good writer and I found his prose quite enjoyable. That said, while this is his first "paranormal" trilogy, it's clear he is a horror writer at heart and I am not a horror fan. For all the blood and guts strewn about, the book has an almost leisurely pace and I actually thought the pacing was much too slow for the story being told. I think his characters are believable, his world building intriguing and the overall plot really interesting...just too slow for me. Hopefully not for everyone!
