Huh. I thought I'd reviewed this one already.
Anyway, the plot concerns a late 20th century human revived in the body of a convict in the service of a world girdling power and water monopoly as a star ship pilot. He then steals the ship from them to use relativity to cheat time and head into the future.
The novel shows some of its age with Bussard ramjets and similar things, but its not bad. The future Earth and the societies are interestingly weird, as are the feral ecologies. Still, at best I can give it three stars because the characters are stock Niven characters.
