Corey Callahan's dream of going to college never included a wheelchair. But a hockey accident has left her with a spinal cord injury. Corey refuses to say her life is over; and decides to move forward with her admission to Harkness College. She is assigned a huge handicap accessible room which includes a wonderful roommate. Even better, the hot guy across the hall in the other accessible room catches her interest. Adam Hartley broke his leg in two places during a hockey scrimmage. Corey and Hartley bond over their mutual use of wheelchairs and their love of hockey. Too bad he already has a beautiful girlfriend.

This is the first book in Sarina Bowen's Ivy Years series. I'm not a huge fan of contemporary romance, so it took me a while to get into this story. I liked Corey from the first page. She wanted to get away from her mother and father who were totally driving her nuts while they tried to do everything for her. She just wanted some independence from them. Hartley was also likeable. His biggest downfall was his blind spot concerning his trophy girlfriend. The secondary characters were fun and will (hopefully) get their own books in the series.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Nick Podehl and Saskia Maarleveld. Both did a terrific job. My rating: 4 Stars.

It was good but not great. One the H has a snobby gf that's will be in Europe for most of this book. Two the h still after 6 months after her spinal cord injury she is still a bitter teenager with fussing and over protective parents and she hates the attention. Three the whiny of both H & h parts gets frustrating. They love hockey so much is also what they bond over on a game console and his feelings don't grow only to friendship while Corey's grow to loving. Hartley sees Corey as a friend and like one of his male buddies since he calls her by her last name just like he did when her brother attended the same college and was captain of their hockey team. Corey and Hartley will talk about everything even topics where she's embarrassed, like sex and in her condition. Then weeks later a drunken birthday boy will have is night planned with his gf and then when she is a no show, he just goes next door and makes out with his buddy. Now is almost Christmas break and Corey is heartbroken when his gf just pops up and makes out with Hartley right in from of everyone including Corey. Now she is majorly depressed. When she gets back from break she will do anything to forget about the first man to break her heart. And continues to until a different party.
Hartley thinks himself as a âright boy' got the hot model-y girlfriend that spoils him rotten, her neighbor happens to be someone he seeks out, a great student and star on the team and hot sharing with said girlfriend. What man wouldn't turn that alway... well form my opinion he's a typical male. Can't pay attention to anyone but himself. I can just go on and on about these two people and their so called love, especially when Corey will find herself as his rebound.
