I always prefer to read a series in order and here I started with number 12. Wow. This Temperance Brennan is so unlike the one on TV, it is hard to believe Kathy Reichs is on the production team for "Bones."
This Tempe, besides being older and wiser, does not even share the same personal history as the TV Tempe. I like this one better.
Read this series as if it is about another character and you'll probably love it. Not as much gross-factor science as we get from Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta, or the show, but a steady, readable story.

Freaking lame that Patterson and the publisher conspired to foist off a race relations retrospective on their Alex Cross loving public by draping his name over a book that more had to do with Alex Cross than it does Mickey Mouse. If you know what you're getting into going in and choose to proceed, it is a good story. The hero pulls off some stuff that would put even Alex Cross to the test.

Vince Flynn has piloted Superhero Mitch Rapp so far to the pinnacle of the near-future that there was nowhere to go but back. In this prequel we learn how Mitch Rapp, college guy became Mitch Rapp, super-commando. Still, Flynn weaves a worthy story and gets the adrenaline pumping.

Very interesting. Think Sherlock Holmes meets Lincoln Rhyme. Turn of the century forensic science and post Victorian drug abuse, plus a smidge of behavioral analysis profiling. Cleverly put together. Moves along after a sluggish start.
This is the second book. I reccommend reading The Alienist first.

Deaver is in top form. This villain may not be the nastiest ever to spring from the mind of an author, but there are plot twists enough that at least ONE of them will take you by surprise.
The plausability of the crimes scares as always. And touches on an area where I, at least, have an almost superstitious fear.
We see some character development in Lincoln Rhyme.

Great introduction to Richard Jury and Melrose plant, along with being a puzzling mystery. Colorful characters and quirky pubs draw the reader.

Blasphemy.
I do not think Judaism, Christianity or Islam would like this book much.
Flaming liberal, all-paths-lead-to-Heaven folks will lap this up.

I like girly books and even I was able to follow the technical military sequences well enough to enjoy this book and the entire series. If you'e a Tom Clancy fan you should definitely give this book a try.
