This book was hilarious! The premise is a kid who gets grounded for the summer and gets updated on history lessons from the local town historian while helping her to write obituaries. Set in the mid 20th century, I spent the whole time laughing listening to this book, and recommend it highly.

From back of book: Unbridled lust. Unlimited excess. Unbelievable egos... Ruthless hack Belinda wants a rich and famous man. Her problem is her job: interviewing Z-list celebs for a tabloid's Tea Break slot means zero opportunity for megastar-bagging. Unassuming Grace just wants a quiet life. Her problems include an egomaniac boyfriend, a matchmaking mother and a publishing job with the authors from hell.
Scheming Belinda finally finds fame, while Grace has it thrust upon her in the shape of a handsome film start. But life among the A-list is anything but easy. Amid unbridled list, unlimited excess and unbelievable egos, the girls' lives spectacularly collide. And then the real problems begin.

Great, fun read. Based in contemporary London. Girl meets right guy while with the wrong guy. Doesn't realize it. Fun and shenanigans ensue including a bit of magic and everyone gets their due, good and bad, in the end.

Just fantastic--loved the book and the premise of a world run by capitalism (vs rare reference to those regions of the world who have not subscribed to the same) as well as allegiance to the US.

A quick comment--I usually steer clear of 'war novels' but honestly, I was surprised at how much I LOVED this book. Great character development and story and historical fiction of a sort in the sense it is based upon real events and the story is superimposed on real events that occurred. For those that love war novels, there is plenty of 'tactical' info shared as well.

For once, a 'happier' ending for a Nicholas Sparks book. Did enjoy the story, although it was a bit predictable in some ways. The audiobook is well read.

An insightful book exploring a wedding night (and the pre life of both and the post life of the male) of two sexually inexperienced individuals trapped within the social conventions of England in the mid 20th century. Well done story--I think most of us can relate to many of the issues presented as we all have a first time (or don't). A love story that emphasizes the importance of sex to relationships and then deemphasizes its importance in the big picture as well.
