I'm sorry. I just don't get this one. It's about a spoiled rich kid who leaves school three days before he would be done anyway, and spends the time doing nothing. Yawn. Supposedly he's smart, though I didn't see any evidence to support that, and has a bunch of angst. I would rather read something with a plot.

I have an interest in the world in general, Spain in particular, so I really wanted to like this book and was excited to get it. And while it contains interesting information and stories, it's rather like listening to an elderly relative drone on and on and on and on... After slogging through the first three chapters, I have set it aside.

An excellent story and one of my favorites. Amir is a privileged child who makes choices he regrets, but in the end, has the courage to do the right thing and is better for it.

This is the book that turned me off classics when I was in high school. Fortunately, I learned later in life that they are not all this dumb. I'm just not into book about people who don't do anything to help themselves.

Very interesting view of the religious conflicts in England during the reign of Queen Mary I,and her rivalry with her sister Elizabeth I, told from the point of view of a young Jewish girl who served them both. It kept be intrigued from start to finish.

I'm going on a Mediterranean cruise in the fall and this book covers serveral of my ports of call. Like all the Rick Steves books, it provides good maps, information about public transit, just the right information about the best sites and crowd beating trips.
