For every secret... Detective Lindsay Boxer's long-awaited wedding celebration becomes a distant memory when she is called to investigate a horrendous crime: a badly injured teenage girl is left for dead, and her newborn baby is nowhere to be found. Lindsay discovers that not only is there no trace of the criminals -- but that the victim may be keeping secrets as well.

For every lie...

At the same time, Assistant District Attorney Yuki Castellano is prosecuting the biggest case of her life -- a woman who has been accused of murdering her husband in front of her two young children. Yuki's career rests on a guilty verdict, so when Lindsay finds evidence that could save the defendant, she is forced to choose. Should she trust her best friend or follow her instinct?

There's a different way to die...

Lindsay's every move is watched by her new boss, Lieutenant Jackson Brady, and when the pressure to find the baby begins interfering with her new marriage to Joe, she wonders if she'll ever be able to start a family.

Probing deeper into the victim's history, she discovers he may not have been quite as saintly as everyone thought.

The back of the book says it all, "You'd think that being clairvoyant would give Abigail Cooper the ability to avoid danger. But being psychic doesn't necessarily allow you to sidestep murder and mayhem - it just lets you know that they're coming..."

This is a great cozy with a bit of an edge - just perfect for a night's read.

This was one heck of a read. I almost pulled a one-nighter because I found it hard to put the book down. Plot twists, characters who aren't what they seem, some who are exactly what they seem, but which is which? The plot centers around Lake Tahoe and Nina Reilly, single mother, one-woman law firm. Her new client is a man accused of murdering his own brother, a crime too horrible to believe. Suddenly Nina is at the center of the storm as her client's family turns against him and Nina finds that his life isn't the only one hanging in the balance, cuaght by an act of malice.

Samuel DelVecchio has spent the last sixteen years with the FBI, most recently as a profiler. He is now with the Mercy Street Foundation. Sam's first assignment is a cold-case murder of a soup kitchen volunteer. It is not long before Sam wonders if it is part of a serial killer's work. Turns out that there have been two other killings with the same MO. FBI agent Fiona Summers is already on the case and cooperates with Sam in hopes of figuring out who the killer is and why he is posing his victims in a certain way.

It is a local parish priest that recognizes what the poses represent. The killer is staging the Church's corporal acts of mercy ("Feed the hungry, shelter homeless ...") with the bodies. Sam and Fiona are in a race to stop the killer, but this killer is closer than they know.

Judge Daniel Brennan is only days away from achieving a seat on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals bench when he's brutally stabbed to death in his garage. An army of media and law enforcement descend on the case, and thousands of tips pour in from the public. When one tip leads New Jersey policeman Luke Somers to Steven Gallagher, things quickly go wrong, but Luke is instantly glorified for solving the case.

Hitchcock is in the middle of filming his latest film, Vertigo, when he receives a macabre present, the severed ear of a woman. Joining forces with ex-LAPD detective Chess Slattery, Hitch follows a trail that takes the pair from the mansions of Bel Air to the degraded haunts of Hollywood wannabes and the shabby bungalows of Venice in 1957.

This was a really good read.

Perhaps it is a blessing when Jasmine Dent dies in her sleep. At long last an end has come to the suffering of a body horribly ravaged by disease. It may well have been suicide; she had certainly expressed her willingness to speed the inevitable. But small inconsistencies lead her neighbor, Superintendent Duncan Kincaid of Scotland Yard, to a startling conclusion: Jasmine Dent was murdered. But if not for mercy, why would someone destroy a life already so fragile and doomed? As Kincaid and his capable and appealing assistant Sergeant Gemma James sift through the dead woman's strange history, a troubling puzzle begins to take shape -- a bizarre amalgam of good and evil, of charity and crime . . . and of the blinding passions that can drive the human animal to perform cruel and inhuman acts.
