Have never forgotten how the author described the way people were treated with "casual cruelty" - sad sad sad.

The most depressing book about childhood I have ever read.

The story was difficult to follow and not very interesting. I will stick to her Breed series.

Boring boring boring.

Written in a light most favorable to the author...not much self introspection and the photographs were too few and poorly labeled - she doesn't even include the names of those in several of the photos - Bing Crosby is the "crooner" and Harry Belafonte doesn't even get that much.

I got this for the Lora Leigh story and much prefer her Breed series - the story just wasn't compelling.

Not as sad as The Glass Castle but still depressing.
