Another horse mystery by Dick Francis. This one is set around the political field involving a father and his son Ben who's only goal in life is to ride race horses. Ben returns to his father's house and becomes part of Dad's political rise to office, while giving his father the appearance of being the family man that he wants. Ben also helps keep Dad alive from someone with a ax to grind. Enjoyable and fun reading and highly recommended.

This is the first Women's murder club I've read but Lindsay Boxer, Inspector in the local police department, sure has her hands busy. Her friend is shot on a local ferry, a child and her nanny are kidnapped and her personal life is having it's ups and downs. Good quick read and enjoyable book.

Everything starts somewhere. For elite military cop Jack Reacher, that somewhere was Carter Crossing, Mississippi, way back in 1997.

A lonely railroad track. A crime scene. A cover-up. A young woman is dead, and solid evidence points to a soldier at a nearby military base. But that soldier has powerful friends in Washington.

Reacher is ordered undercover to find out everything he can and then to vanish. But when he gets to Carter Crossing, Reacher meets local sheriff Elizabeth Deveraux, who has a thirst for justice and an appetite for secrets. Uncertain they can trust each other, they reluctantly join forces. Finding unexpected layers to the case, Reacher works to uncover the truth, while others try to bury it forever. The conspiracy threatens to shatter his faith in his missionand turn him into a man to be feared.

DONT'T MISS THIS ONE. Book 1 written after book 12.

Before he was considered a CIA superagent, Mitch Rapp was a gifted college athlete without a care in the world . . . and then tragedy struck.

Two decades of cutthroat, partisan politics has left the CIA and the country in an increasingly vulnerable position. Cold War veteran and CIA Operations Director Thomas Stansfield knows he must prepare his people for the next war. The rise of Islamic terrorism is coming, and it needs to be met abroad before it reaches Americas shores. Stansfield directs his protÉgÉe, Irene Kennedy, and his old Cold War colleague, Stan Hurley, to form a new group of clandestine operatives who will work outside the normal chain of commandmen who do not exist.

What type of man is willing to kill for his country without putting on a uniform? Kennedy finds him in the wake of the Pan Am Lockerbie terrorist attack. Two-hundred and seventy souls perished that cold December night, and thousands of family and friends were left searching for comfort. Mitch Rapp was one of them, but he was not interested in comfort. He wanted retribution.

As action-packed, fast-paced, and brutally realistic as it gets, Flynns latest page-turner shows readers how it all began. Behind the steely gaze of the nations ultimate hero is a young man primed to become an American Assassin.

This book is two pronged, as it covers the two most important eras of Rhodesian-Zimbabwean history. The late 1800's and 1977 are respectively the eras when the country of Rhodesia was founded, and 1977 the year a black-led revolution took place. In each of these eras, Smith blends a fabric of interwoven and interdependent characters, both black and white, who typify the strength, courage, and keen failures of a land that is both beautiful and dangerous.

On an icy January day, the Reykjavik police are called to a block of flats where a body has been found in the garden: a young, dark-skinned boy, frozen to the ground in a pool of his own blood. The discovery of a stab wound in his stomach extinguishes any hope that this was a tragic accident. Erlendur and his team embark on their investigation with little to go on but the news that the boys Thai half-brother is missing. Is he implicated, or simply afraid for his own life? The investigation soon unearths tensions simmering beneath the surface of Icelands outwardly liberal, multicultural society. The boys murder forces Erlendur to confront a tragedy in his own past. Soon, facts are emerging from the snow-filled darkness that are more chilling even than the Arctic night.

Du Pré suspects a pair of boys who, despite their good upbringing, have fallen in with a gang of meth dealers. Not long after the murder, they vanish. As the town is threatened by a forest fire, he hunts for the two young men, not knowing whether they are alive or dead. When the inferno reaches Toussaint, no one will be safe.
