A great story depicting one young man's struggle to be a teenage father while still finding his way through life.
It's short with an easy to read style. It has a great topic and a great theme for teens, but may be too easy for advanced readers.
It's a great novel to give to struggling readers. Even my students who HATE reading loved this book!

This is a great book for teens... even teens who are reluctant readers seem to want to read Draper's stories of the Hazelwood High teens.
It's a believable, heartgripping tale told through the eyes of a teen.

Another great tale about the group of friends at Hazelwood High. This is the heartwrenching tale of Gerald and his sister Angel and how they overcome the heartache of abuse to survive as a family.

Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything (P.S.)

The book makes interesting connections between events we may see as unrelated. It's well written and combines an interest in sociology and economics. It's a great discussion starter!

A good continuation if you like the Twilight series. The characters are well written and Meyer makes you care about them. The plot line is ok, but you really need to read the book withing the series.

Helps teens see the SAT words in context. My high school students can't get enough of the book - it is always checked out of our "outside reading" bookshelf. It's a fun story that teens enjoy and think is an "easy" read, but the SAT vocabulary is mixed in to make it a smarter read than they think!

A great Morrison tale; it looks at female friendships and life choices in an interesting way that few other than Morrison could get away with. Morrison adds a hint of the supernatural to keep you thinking and wondering about the book long after you put it down.

A gripping story dealing with teenage drunk driving that comes from a teen's point of view.
Even the most hard-shelled, reluctant readers will read, and think about, and LOVE this book.

Zlata's Diary: A Child's Life in Sarajevo

The first person account really shows what this young girl had to go through just to stay alive. It can be related to many things that are occuring now throughout the world. Many say she's a modern Anne Frank, and I agree!
