Early urban fantasy, sequel to Jack the Giant-Killer. Jacky Rowan and Kate Hazel return; it seems a rogue wizard is in the area stealing the "luck" and life from the other magical inhabitants. Jacky needs to battle the wizard but makes more than one boneheaded decision and has to be saved. I didn't care for this one as much as the previous just due to that. DeLint's mythos of the "Jack" means they get by on luck more than smarts, but that sure seemed to put her friends in bad positions. But the other characters are appealing and the whole idea of faerie existing almost side-by-side with our world is fun.
