Very interesting facts about the steamer Californian who failed to answer distress calls from the Titanic. Many, if not all of the lost souls could have been saved if the Captain only listened when his second mate told him he saw eight white rockets coming from a nearby ship.
We find out white rockets mean "distress, come quickly". Captain Lord ignored the call and denied he was told of the distress rockets. His second in command, Herbert Stone lied for him.
Of course, the book is a mixture of fact and fiction, but the facts stand for themselves. As far as I'm concerned, Captain Lord got away with murder! Very sad.
